An associate’s perspective: Why I love serving seniors
Walking into a Holiday Retirement community is like walking into a living history book. With war heroes, Harlem Globetrotters, music composers and more among the mix, our residents not only lived history, but they also made history. That’s why being able to serve our residents at this stage of their life is a real privilege for all of us at Holiday Retirement.
Take a look at some of the reasons six of our associates love working with seniors.
Donnie Clemons, a kitchen helper at Holiday Retirement’s The Cambridge, finds joy in helping to provide nutritious and appealing meals to the seniors at his Springfield, Missouri, retirement community. “I love serving my residents,” he says. “I feel like I have a building full of grandparents—we are all one big family.”
After 22 years in insurance and financial advising, Warren Ross, sales leader at Holiday Retirement’s Pinecrest, says coming to Holiday was a great fit for his experience. “I love helping seniors,” he says. “And I love helping families see how Holiday can fit the needs of their loved ones.”
Kim Schiel, regional enrichment coach at Holiday Retirement’s Oakwood Hills, loves the selflessness that comes with the job. “I love serving seniors because it gives me an opportunity to make a positive difference in their lives on a daily basis,” she says. “It also gives me a chance to make their great day a spectacular day.”
Martha Faught, a bus driver at The Cambridge, says there’s something very satisfying about working for a company that cares for seniors. Everything you do, in whatever capacity, is contributing to someone else’s happiness. “I just love serving these people,” she says. “I feel like I am making their lives better.”
