Holiday Retirement communities say “hello!” to pool season
Nothing quite captures the summer season more than outdoor adventures and poolside soirees. That’s why Holiday Retirement communities have kicked off the season with a splash of water activities to keep residents entertained all summer long.
Take a look at the ways our senior living communities are keeping cool in the summer heat:
Holiday Retirement’s Atrium at Gainesville held a pool party in May—complete with root beer floats, sodas, ring toss, beach balls and rubber duckies. Even residents who didn’t swim sat by the pool and took part in the refreshing festivities. The Florida retirement community had so much fun, it’s throwing another pool party each month this summer!
What better way to cool off than with a little competition? Residents at Holiday Retirement’s Renaissance-Sherman raced to the finish line by squirting their beach balls with Super Soaker water guns, then tried their hand at soaking associates in the dunk tank.
Water doesn’t have to be just for relaxation. At Holiday Retirement’s The Tremont, Hawaii Kai and Las Palmas, the pool is used for water aerobics one to three times a week! Residents typically start with 30 minutes of low to moderate water aerobics exercises and end with “noodle lounging,” a cool-down that gives residents a chance to chat and get to know one another.
Natural bodies of water
For Holiday communities located near bodies of water, residents have the opportunity to walk along the beach or venture out to a boat dock. Residents at Holiday Retirement’s The Woods at Holly Tree recently took a stroll on Cape Fear River, and Holiday Retirement’s The Venetian Gardens spent a day out on Venice Fishing Pier.
If water activities aren’t your thing, but you still want the beach vibe, Holiday Retirement’s The Gardens at Arkanshire has the solution for you.
The community threw a Spring Fling Beach Party filled with music by The Beach Boys, a tropical-themed lunch, a strawberry-banana smoothie bar and decorations of bright-colored pineapples, dolphins and umbrellas. The residents and staff wore their best beach outfits and shared past stories of trips they had taken to the beach. They ended the day with an exciting game of beach ball volleyball while listening to upbeat beach tunes!
