Edgewood Downs residents tie the knot after whirlwind romance
Wedding bells rang at Edgewood Downs in Beaverton, Oregon, on June 6 as residents Jim B. and Lise L. tied the knot in front of family, friends, and fellow residents.
The nuptials took place only a few short months after the happy couple first met. Jim and Lise met when Lise was visiting Edgewood Downs in December of 2014. After Jim found the courage to ask Lise out for the first time, the two quickly became inseparable.
Less than two months after Lise moved to Edgewood Downs, Jim knew he had already waited long enough and decided to ask for Lise’s hand in marriage. While the lovebirds were shopping together at Fred Meyers Jewelers, Jim decided to buy Lise an engagement ring. Lise thought the ring was for Jim’s daughter. That evening, Jim marched over to Lise’s apartment to ask her a simple, but life-changing question: “You’ll marry me, won’t you?” Lise was more than happy to accept.
After a brief engagement, Jim and Lise professed their love for each other at Edgewood Downs in both Catholic and Bahá’i services among their loved ones. Lise walked down the aisle in a red and white dress while Jim, dressed in his finest blue suit, waited underneath a white archway beautifully decorated with flowers and lights.
For Lise, the wedding day was perfect, “I can’t believe it took me 74 years to have this type of love that I never dreamt of,” the bride gushed. “My heart is full, very full.”
After the pair made it official, they celebrated with family and friends with a special wedding cake made by the Edgewood Downs chef and a hot dog and hamburger buffet to rival the Fourth of July.
Proving it is never too late for love, Jim and Lise are looking forward to their future as husband and wife. We wish the happy couple a lifetime of happiness and love!
